Running out of storage

Post by rupadhya » Thu May 01, 2014 6:35 pm

I am not sure this is a bug, or the text of the message could be a bit clearer.

I got

archwriter.c#200,archwriter_write_buffer(): write(size=262234) returned 242205
archwriter.c#212,archwriter_write_buffer(): Can't write to the archive file. Space on device is 16.00 MB.
If the archive is being written to a FAT filesystem, you may have reached
the maximum filesize that it can handle (in general 2 GB)
oper_save.c#216,createar_obj_regfile_unique(): operation has been interrupted
removed fullback.fsa

So I guess the volume I was writing to ran out of space. It isn't a FAT volume, as it is EXT4. It would be nice if it would end gracefully without deleting my file that took 24 hours to create.

Running out of storage - A bug

Post by rupadhya » Fri May 02, 2014 7:34 am

It is a bug, as it has quit at the same place as last time. I deleted some files to make the file a bit smaller, so I would guess it would finish. It did not. The error happened at the same place. From the changelog, it looks very recent.

I think it is installed from Fedora 20.

The error I am getting is. I have backed up these files before.

Code: Select all

archwriter.c#200,archwriter_write_buffer(): write(size=262057) returned 237887

It has something to due with the fact that my filesystem has exhausted all its space. I am using Mint today.

Code: Select all

Here is the version I am using.

Code: Select all

fsarchiver version 0.6.17 (2013-02-25) - http://www.fsarchiver.org <====

The last messages are

Use compression.

Code: Select all

-z level, --compress=level

I made the partition that I am backing to a bit larger. The backup finished. Thank you, Lazy-Kent for the compression idea.
