Problems restoring ext2 partitions

Hi, I built a unit-recovery utility based on fsarchiver. I encountered the following problem with 2 filesystems ( /dev/cciss/c0d0p2 and /dev/cciss/c0d0p3 which corresponds to / and /var). Surprisingly, the restore did work despite the errors (I had to manually comment the part that exits on errors)....

Re: What kernel version the FsArchiver is supported

Hi,
On a similar note, we want to use fsarchiver to perform live backup on rhel3.
We want to know if anyone was able to compile it on rhel3?

Thanks.

Re: Performance

I ran the backup on a customer who claims that with Acronis it took them to do the same backup in 15 minutes on the exact same conditions. If this is the case indeed, I find it hard to believe that the disks are the bottleneck. By the way, with -z2 the backup took 40 minutes (instead of 50 with -z3)...

Performance

Hi, I'm using fsarchiver to backup a system during load and it takes 50 minutes to finish: I tried to use the -j8 (it's a IBM blade with 8 cores) and didn't help much. The system sizes: [[email protected] ~]# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda5 18G 12G 5.2G 70% / /dev/sda7 4.8G 139M 4...

Re: Pagefile and Hibernation file

This is great news! I developed an ImageBackup utility which is based on fsarchiver version 0.5.6 (2009-05-19). I use it to backup ext3 filesystems. Will it be safe for me to use the beta version with the --exclude flag? When will you release a non-beta version that contains the --exclude flag? Best...

Re: Pagefile and Hibernation file

Is there a --exclude option yet?
I'm trying to backup /var but I want to exclude certain files.
How do I do that?

Best,
Avi.

it must not be used on critical data

Hi,

I used to use partimage as my backup utility but I want to move on to a new backup utility which will also support ext4 (for future use).
For the time being will mostly use it to backup ext3 partitions.

Should I avoid using fsarchiver only because of this this warning?
