Use fsarchiver to switch to Reiser4

Post by frindly » Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:27 pm

debian 4 cannot create a reiser4 partition or use it. but my idea. i install
debian on a reiserfs 3.6, then patch the kernel with reiser4 support and backup the partition with fsarchiver. now i can restore it on a reiser4 partition, change the fstab and the syste should work fine?

Yes, it should work. Anyway it won't preserve the filesystem attributes for reiser4 yet (label, uuid, ...) so you will have to use the fs tools by hand. You will have to restore from a system which has the reiser4tools, you can use SystemRescueCd to do that (save and restore).

I am working on the preservation of the filesystem attributes for xfs.
