Licensing?

Post by n » Sun Jun 28, 2009 8:11 pm

Hi, sort of a newbie to free software, but I checked out the source code, and I was wondering a few things:

All the files specify GPL v2 instead of "version 2 or any later version", but the md5.c/md5.h files are GPLv3+ only. So that seems weird. Did you not intend to be GPLv3-compatible?

What are the licenses for uuid.c/uuid.h and result.c/result.h? The uuid files say they're from e2fsprogs, but there's no copyright notice...

configure.ac says it's copyright Francois Dupoux, but the license is just... missing.

Neither of the Makefile.am files have any notice whether they're copyrighted/licensed or automatically generated from other files. (You can probably tell I don't know anything about automake; just wondering.)

Thanks for these comments, all these problems have been fixed in fsarchiver-0.5.8.

Cool--I think you missed copying md5.h over, though, because it still says version 3.

And is configure.ac under the GPL too? It still doesn't mention anything but the copyright.
