performanc issues with many files when analysing file system

Please see discussion here:

http://www.fsarchiver.org/forums/viewto ... =3468#p346

The long story short: i have a lot of small files on my file system. I am a developer so I have a lot of source code directories that are SVN or HG repos. In addition, I have rsnapshot keeping hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly snapshots of my system resulting in 34 rsnapshot "mirrors". So, at the end of the day, I have a lot of files.

Using partclone, I was able to clone this filesystem in about 75 mins. When running fsarchiver, I let it run for four hours and I didn't see even one file backed up, it was still analyzing.

So, just putting in a request for increased performance when dealing with lots of small files.

Thanks.
