Missing data on the restore device

Post by MBA Whore » Thu Oct 09, 2014 3:45 am

First - this looks like a really neat program. I hope it continues to grow.

Second - I am not very computer savvy so forgive my ignorance.

I have 2 bootable USB flash devices. They are identical. I have Kubuntu 14.04 installed on one. The root partition occupies the entire device.

I used FSarchiver, actually QT4-FSarchiver based upon Ubuntu "Precise" English version12.04, to image that root partition. I imaged the partition instead of the whole disk because I get a "broken pipe" error message if I try to image the disk.

The partition is imaged. When I restore the image to the 2nd USB flash, the 2nd USB flash will not boot. It gives a grub error message "File not found".

Why will it not boot?

Also, I ran gparted just to check how full was each USB. The 2nd USB flash was about 900 MB smaller than the original. This is the same USB flash that will not boot.

Why is it smaller?

Thank you for your time.
