Reliability

Post by peyremor » Wed Apr 07, 2010 2:16 pm

Hi,

I'm currently choosing a good tool to backup my server root partition. ( EXT3 )

I first checked dd, but even with compression it creates huge files.

Then i found partclone, partimage and the one that seem the most interesting : FSArchiver

But, on the main page of the web site i read :

"It's still under heavy development so it must not be used on critical data."

So my question is the following :

- When would a stable version be available to backup ext3 critical datas ?

Cheers,
Eric

Thank you i didn't see that topic...

Until there all my test with ext3 are ok, and i like this software.

By the way, i use it with hcp ( free but not opensource snapshot tool from r1soft ) and it's very useful for those who do not use lvm.
