# rpm -q fsarchiver fsarchiver-0.6.16-1.fc18.x86_64 My Fedora 18 installation is on /dev/sda1 (SELinux is off). # fsarchiver -v savefs /mnt/backup.fsa /dev/sda1 It starts right away, even if the partition is mounted rw: # findmnt /dev/sda1 TARGET SOURCE FSTYPE OPTIONS / /dev/sda1 ext4 rw,relatime,s...

Re: Need an option to generate new UUID on restfs

tune2fs -U random <filesystem> will change it to a random uuid. No need for uuidgen. There are ocasions when you want the filesystem to have the same UUID, and others when you do not. This can be solved offering an option that can on restfs: - create the filesystem with the original uuid - create th...

Re: Need an option to generate new UUID on restfs

I do not think this kind of check is neccessary. A command line option for change the UUID on restfs however would be a welcome feature. An option to gerenete a random UUID would be also useful.

Re: Cannot recover ext3 image errno=16, Device or resource

Maybe SELinux is the culprit? Try boot Fedora Live CD with enforcing=0 boot option.

Re: [ntfs] <unknown> label is assigned after recovering

admin, this bug is still preset in fsarchvier 0.6.15. Can't the change posted by robertchen be applied?

Ah, BTW, is that workaround for blkid < 1.41 necessary these days? libblkid 1.41 shipped four years ago and the first util-linux release containing it (2.15), more than three years ago.

I didn't test it though. So in theory since ntfs-3g 2012.1.15 all should work automatically.

Re: FAT16 & FAT32 support

Hi admin, You really should reconsider your position about FAT16 and FAT32 partitions that are still very often used in SD cards, GPS, picture frames, etc. Sometimes light Linux systems are even embedded, so there is no reason not to support them from a full Linux desktop. Solve this http://www.fsa...

Re: Archiving an entire /dev/sda

The next version 0.7.0 has an option to save the partition table.

Take a look:

Re: [ntfs] <unknown> label is assigned after recovering

FSArchiver 0.6.10 still put "<unknown>" into non labeled NTFS partitions after restfs.

Re: fsarchiver dialog frontend

Very nice work. A good start.

I think the project right now has other priorities, like the new partition table backup option and future MBR/VBR backup option.
