allow fsarchive images to be mounted

If I only want to restore certain files from an archive, it would be handy if fsarchiver image could be mounted and browsed just like a local file system.

support for incremental and differential archives

I'd like to see fsarchiver support incremental and differential backups, as e.g. rdiff [1] supports. incremental means, you only store the difference between subsequent images. To restore the archive you'll need all images. This is the most space efficient. differential means, you only store the dif...

problems with xattrs/selinux

Hi, I'm using 0.6.5 on a 32bit Debian Sid, with kernel 2.6.32.5 I tried to backup a Fedora12 system, which is installed on a ext4 partition and selinux is enabled. I get the following errors during backup: [errno=12, Cannot allocate memory]: create.c#284,createar_item_xattr(): xattr:lgetxattr(/home/...

Re: duplicate partition label

Since the whole point of a uuid is that it be unique duplicating one should normally be regarded as an error. Depends. If you use fsarchiver as backup tool and you use the image to restore a (broken) system, then restoring the LABEL / UUID is definitely what you want (this is how I fsarchiver curre...

Re: duplicate partition label

I would consider it a feature, that fsarchiver restores the UUID and LABEL. Most distros nowadays use UUID or LABEL in their fstab, so when restorig a system image, it is still bootable. In your case, where you restore the image to another partition along side the existing partition, a command line ...

Re: ./configure fails if PATH does not contain /sbin

I see no problem with this modification. Do you want to make this change in svn ? I have given you an access to the repository (cf other topic) Thanks, I committed those changes. Do you have any objections if I remove those files from SVN: # modified: INSTALL # modified: compile # modified: config....

Re: make distcheck fails, comp_lzo.h not found

I would also recommend to create the release tarball with "make distcheck" to avoid such errors in the future.

./configure fails if PATH does not contain /sbin

Running ./configure as non-root user fails: ... checking e2p/e2p.h presence... yes checking for e2p/e2p.h... yes configure: error: mke2fs not found, please install e2fsprogs-1.39 or newer problem is, that on Debian systems, a regular user does not have /sbin and /usr/sbin in PATH. I'd recommend to r...

Add progress bar when saving/restoring an archive

Saving/restoring an archive can take quite a while.
The verbose mode (-v) is a bit too chatty for my taste, what I'd like is a simple progress bar which shows me how many % of the works has already been completed

Wrong compression level stored in archive

If I compile fsarchiver e.g. without lzma support, and then use a compression level >= 7, I get the following error message from fsarchiver: # fsarchiver -z 9 savedir /tmp/foo /foo fsarchiver.c#179,select_compress_options(): invalid compression level: 9 fsarchiver still seems to successfully create ...

Add command to verify an archive

Hi,

I think it would be helpful if fsarchiver provided a command which let's you verify if an archive is correct, i.e. not corrupt.
