Re: install location

You don't need to be interested in /usr/local/include.

What is the problem?

Berix wrote:In order to back up a partition that's still mounted, you have to use the -A option in fsarchiver (forces it to continue and ignore the mount warning).
'man fsarchiver' describes all the options.
The FSarchiver site provides all the info also. http://www.fsarchiver.org/Live-backup

Re: Deduplication

I think, it depends on your file system.
Not tested myself.

do you mean the author of fsarchiver? I have send a mail to Francois Dupoux.
Better would be an email to the authors of ntfs-g3. Who are the authors?

Regards Dieter
Hi, Dieter.
I mean the author of fsarchiver.

Let see, what Francois answers.

Re: Running out of storage

Use compression.

Code: Select all

-z level, --compress=level

I just formatted sdb to ext4 partiotion and it is mounted OK.
The mount point is the path in your system.

Re: Error: [n] is not a valid number of jobs. Must be betwee

Use a path in your filesystem, not a device name.
Something like /mnt/backup/ instead of /dev/sdb1/.

Re: Error: [n] is not a valid number of jobs. Must be betwee

"n" in the both cases (-jn and -zn) must be an integer.
"-j" is a number of jobs, "-z" is a compression level.

Example:

Code: Select all

fsarchiver -v -j2 -z7 -a -A savefs /dev/sdb1/xubuntu_backup.fsa /dev/sda1
Read 'man 8 fsarchiver'.

Re: Impossible to excude file during savefs with ntfs partit

Have you tried to put

Code: Select all

-e 'Softwares.vhd'
at the end of the command line?
I'm not sure if it works in your case, but the man page EXAMPLES shows the arguments order.

Re: SOLVED: First time user help with backup to second hdd

I launch FSArchiver (fsarchiver savefs -j4 /mnt/SATA1/disk2.fsa /dev/sdb1), I get the message which explains that sdb1 is mounted in read-write option, and FSArchiver is stopped. Read 'man fsarchiver'. -A, --allow-rw-mounted Allow to save a filesystem which is mounted in read-write (live backup). B...

Re: Restore filesystem with small block size requirements

I think, fsarchiver doesn't restore your filesystem state. It is a file archiver.

> When I restore the filesystem

Better say, you restore the files. The filesystem is created "from scratch" with default settings.
